About Dr Ulia Mather

Dr Ulia Mather, MSc, MBACP (Reg) Psychotherapist, Counsellor & Supervisor

I am a private psychotherapist, counsellor, supervisor, consultant, coach, mentor and trainer familiar with and trained in many talking and trauma modalities. I am an approved practitioner by Healthcare RM (Health Risk Management) and affiliate counsellor for Health Assurer (Employment Assistance Program and Occupational Health Provider) in the UK.

I have thousands of clinical practice hours working in a GP practice and agencies specialising in loss and various types of abuse (emotional, physical, sexual, domestic, rape), postnatal depression and spinal injuries providing both short and long-term work. For many years I delivered and managed a successful trauma service for abused victims in Scotland. I was consulted by Politicians on the Scottish Government’s approach towards survivors of childhood abuse.

Coming from a medical background as a physician my special interest lies in somatic dissociation (Chronic Pain, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Non-epileptic Seizures, etc.), performance therapy (sport, art, acting and singing) and how psychological issues affect physical health and vice versa. I like bridging the gap between medicine and psychotherapy and take a holistic approach towards the clients.

I am happily married with 3 children, love watching theatre, going to the cinema and rugby. I have travelled extensively around the world and have lived in many countries so I am well aware of the difference and diversity of people.
